SOIL 002 - Introduction to Erosion and Sediment Control

Delivered in partnership with EDI Environmental Dynamics Inc, this one day course will provide participants with an understanding of erosion and sediment control definitions, concepts and techniques to allow them to make better decisions in planning, implementing and inspecting development projects.

Who should enroll

This course is designed to instruct planning and operations staff, equipment operators, road construction and maintenance staff, consultants, field workers and government regulatory officials in the proper management and installation of erosion and sediment control techniques.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will have a good understanding of: 

  • Importance of erosion and sediment control (regulatory and environmental context)
  • Key definitions and concepts related to erosion, runoff and sediment control
  • Best practices/techniques related to erosion, runoff and sediment control.
  • Evaluating and setting priorities for planning and implementing development projects.
  • Knowledge of how to prevent and address issues related to erosion on construction sites.
