PHED 222 - Northern Outdoor Pursuits and Leadership 1

This course introduces participants to various late summer and fall outdoor pursuits, which may include canoeing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking and/or survival skills. Instruction focuses on the principles of outdoor leadership, team building, decision making and risk management in a northern environment. Students will develop knowledge and skills for leading group activities in the northern outdoors. Ancillary fee: $350.

* There is a mandatory weekend camping trip during the term. The class schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions and availability of resources.

NOTE: In Fall 2024, students in Aviation Management, Northern Outdoor and Environmental Studies, and Northern Studies will have priority. Students will need registration approval from the instructor. Please contact Rodney Hulstein at rhulstein@yukonu.ca.
