PAT 001 - Powder-Actuated Tools

Yukon Occupational Health and Safety regulations require all persons who operate powder-actuated tools to have certification. In this course, the students will: examine the regulations governing the use of powder-actuated tools; identify the different types of tools; identify the types of cartridges and fasteners used; determine the suitability of materials to which powder-actuated fasteners can be attached use and maintain a variety of powder-actuated tools. Upon successful completion of the course, the students will receive certification for the tools used.

Learning outcomes
  • Understand and implement safety procedures specific to the use of powder-actuated tools.
  • Identify different types of powder-actuated tools and their appropriate applications.
  • Demonstrate the correct operation of powder-actuated tools, including loading, firing, and unloading.
  • Understand and comply with relevant regulations and standards governing the use of powder-actuated tools.
  • Select and use appropriate PPE when operating powder-actuated tools.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive 3-year Powdered Actuated Tools Certification.
