The workshop focusses on the foundation of Psychological Health and Safety (PHS) at work, and explores 13 factors that have been shown to contribute to a psychologically healthy and safe workplace:

• Psychological and Social Support
• Clear Leadership and Expectations
• Civility and Respect
• Psychological Competencies and Demands
• Growth and Development
• Recognition and Reward
• Involvement and Influence
• Workload Management
• Engagement
• Balance
• Psychological Protection
• Protection of Physical Safety

Each factor is examined, and a format is provided for brainstorming, considering, identifying, and selecting actions that could support each factor. A bibliography, list of resources, and list of references is also provided.

Instructor Marie Fast has a 30-year history providing mental health services as a clinician, supervisor and manager. In the past five years she has expanded her knowledge and skills to focus on psychological health and safety in the workplace, through teaching, building courses and workshops, and consulting with workplaces on issues related to mental health and building a psychologically safe workplace.
