HET 100 - Workplace Safety and Practices
This course provides a foundation for working in an industrial setting. It introduces students to safe work habits and the correct use of common tools and materials found in the shop and in the field. Coursework will include the larger industrial safety framework defined by legislation and regulations, general shop safety practices including fire safety, and common safety procedures specific to heavy equipment shop and field work. The student will acquire the skill to measure components accurately with precision measuring tools. Basic components and maintenance programs used in the trade will be discussed. The student will be introduced to Yukon apprenticeship, interprovincial standards and workplace coaching skills.
