Situated on the Traditional Territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, the Whitehorse Correctional Centre (WCC) Campus offers programs that help fulfill academic and employment skill development needs.
The campus philosophy is to assist students to move forward in these areas so that upon release they will be better prepared to further their studies or gain employment. The WCC campus helps inmates make positive transitions to productive community based lives, and has provided learning opportunities to inmates since the late 1970’s.
Storytelling at WCC
Telling your story can be cathartic and hearing someone else’s story can be transformative. This is a key idea behind a program run recently at the Whitehorse Correctional Centre (WCC) Campus. The goal was to give inmates the space and the tools to tell their own stories, and to pass positive messages on to youth who may be reading them.
