Yukon's Western Canada Education Fair on December 6th

Yukon College Hosts 2010 Western Canada Education Fair

Whitehorse – Yukon College, in partnership with Yukon Education, is hosting 26 universities, colleges and institutions at the second Western Canada Education Fair. Over 800 high school students and the general public are expected to attend the fair on Monday, December 6, 2010. The fair opens officially at 9am and runs until 6:30pm while closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30pm. Almost every high school in the Yukon will be attending.


This is the largest educational event in the Yukon, with prize draws to win an Acer netbook, digital camera, gift certificates and other prizes. All of the universities and colleges will be hosting information tables at the fair, as well as offering presentations to the public.


“High school teachers and First Nations education support workers reported that they were better able to support their students after attending the fair in 2008. We look forward to sharing Yukon College with the territory alongside some of the biggest post secondary institutions in western Canada.” says Yukon College President, Terry Weninger.

 

The following institutions will be in attendance: Alberta College of Art and Design, Athabasca University, BC Council on Admissions and Transfer, Canadian Forces, College of the Rockies, Devry Calgary, College of the Rockies, Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Grande Prairie Regional College, Grant MacEwan College, Kings University College, Langara College, Lethbridge College, Mount Royal University, Northern Lights College, OC/Okanagan School of Business, Quest University Canada, Royal Roads University, Service d’orientation de formation des Adultes (SOFA), Thompson Rivers University, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of Northern British Columbia, University of Saskatchewan, Vancouver Island University, Yukon College, Yukon School of Visual Arts (Yukon SOVA).
