Whitehorse– On Monday, July 26th, Dr. Deborah Bartlette began as the dean of the Division of Applied Arts at Yukon College. The dean of this division oversees two academic and career schools - the School of Liberal Arts, and the School of Health, Education and Human Services.
Bartlette has worked in the post-secondary education system since 1998. She’s held leadership positions at Fraser Valley University, Simon Fraser University, Technical University of BC, and the Vancouver School of Theology. She’s currently an adjunct professor in Education in adult and post-secondary education at SFU, teaching there and at Athabasca University.
Bartlette holds an EdD from Simon Fraser University in Educational Leadership, a Masters in Distance Education from Athabasca University, a Master of Theological Studies from Vancouver School of Theology, a Bachelor of Administration Studies from Open University, and a Diploma in Business Administration from Red River Community College.
“I look forward to getting to know the College and the Yukon, and to exploring ways in which the College and the people of the communities can work together,” says Bartlette.
In search of ‘real winter’, less traffic, opportunities for hiking, river canoeing and snowshoeing, Bartlette and her partner, Ted Ackerman, are pleased to be relocating to the Yukon.
