Dawson City is situated within Tr’ondek Hwëch’in Traditional Territory, at the confluence of the Chu kon’ dëk (Yukon) and Tr’ondëk (Klondike) Rivers.
Dawson is a thriving community that was built by mining, sustained by culture and tourism and tended by government. The campus supports these sectors by providing various courses and programs in a number of areas. A variety of short and long-term training programs are offered with a priority to meet local employment needs.
Study On Campus
Students who are enrolled in any of Yukon U's online programs and courses are welcome to attend and study on campus. Participate in your online courses from the campus and / or drop in to enjoy some quiet study time in a tranquil environment. We also deliver a variety of face-to-face continuing education courses and localized programs in our well-furnished classrooms. Our spaces are comfortable, equipped and supported by staff to enhance your Yukon U learning experience.
Hëtrʼohoʼày̨ (we are learning)
Learning Hub & Classroom
When we are not running courses and activities, we are happy to host students and community members in our Hëtrʼohoʼày̨ (we are learning) Learning Hub & Classroom, situated downstairs near the reception desk. This area offers computer and Internet access combined with study space for doing your coursework, research, communications, etc.
The computers are accessible to the public during office hours. However, technical assistance and printing is only available when our Administrative Assistant is working at the reception desk.

Room Bookings
We have a selection of Trʼëdädèy (we are working) office and classroom spaces that can be adapted into public meeting and gathering areas. Room availability, reservations and fee information is provided at our reception desk.
Yukon University provides invigilation of exams from external institutions. Assistance, exam scheduling and fee information is provided by contacting the campus.
Registrations are processed on a first come (with payment), first served basis. A 7-day cancellation policy is in effect, unless otherwise stated.

Red Cross Standard First Aid / CPR-C
Wed/Thurs, January 22 & 23 | 9m - 5pm | $270 (no gst)
First Aid skills are applicable in your daily life, both at home and at work, to prepare you to act on, control, and manage life's emergencies. Our certified Canadian Red Cross First Aid training will give you a plan of action for emergencies, and give you the confidence to act.
Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home.
Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.
Registration and cancellation deadline for a full refund is January 10.

Firearms Safety (Non-Restricted)
Sat, Feb 8 | 8:30am - 5:30pm | $170 + gst
Topics covered in this course include: the evolution of firearms, major parts, types and actions; safe handling and carrying procedures; safe firing techniques; care of firearms; responsibilities of the firearms owner or user; and safe storage, display, transportation and handling of firearms.
Individuals must complete the course and pass a written and practical test to be eligible to apply for a firearm license.
Please bring your photo ID to the course.

Air Brakes Endorsement
Tues-Thurs, February 11-13 | 9am - 5pm | $525.00+gst
This 24-hour course is designed to give students the knowledge & skills to operate equipment fitted with air brake systems and to maintain that system in a safe operating condition. Students will learn the principles of the various components, correct maintenance and trouble-shooting procedures and the correct adjustment procedures for these components.
Participants of this course will be able to write the government examination during the course. Successfully completing the course, exam and having a Yukon Drivers License will earn a Yukon Government Air Brake Endorsement.
The course follows the format and subject matter that is approved by the Government Motor Vehicle Branch.

FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder): Informed Support

Presented by Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Society Yukon (FASSY)
FASD has been a topic of discussion for the last 50 years yet remains shrouded in questions. This 1-day introductory course seeks to answer some of the uncertainties around this misunderstood disability. Anyone wanting to learn the basics of how this disability occurs, how it impacts people in various ways, and how to best respond to someone who may or may not have FASD, is encouraged to register.
This course approaches FASD with respect, dignity, and a commitment to uphold inherent human worth for all people impacted by prenatal alcohol exposure. Dispel the myths and learn the most up to date research around Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder in this full day learning opportunity.
The expected outcomes for participants are: to better understand why FASD is not “100% preventable; to know the volume of people impacted by FASD; to gain an understanding of how to create more productive environments for people impacted by this disability.
Red Cross Wilderness First Aid
Mon-Fri, March 17-21 | 8:30am-5:30pm | COST TBD
Ever wonder what to do if help is not immediately available if someone is ill or injured?
Whether working or enjoying recreational time in the Yukon, learn to apply Standard First Aid/CPR-C skills in remote environments. Understand the perspective of applying these skills in a rural setting versus an urban environment. Focus on shifting your understanding of the environment, decision making and limited resources. Remote First Aid also offers strategies for providing extended care for up to 24 hours. Suitable for those who work, live and adventure in remote locations.
Please note that this course is taught in a 50% indoor and a 50% outdoor setting, regardless of weather. It will require greater physical activity than typical first aid training, you may wish to wear old clothes.
There is no prerequisite, although we encourage participants to have taken first aid training prior to this course.

Yukon Water and Wastewater Operator Program
The Yukon Water and Wastewater Operator program (YWWOP) offers a range of courses designed to meet the needs of new and prospective water and wastewater operators, as well as current operators working within governments (municipal, territorial, federal or First Nation) and the private sector (e.g. mining, water delivery). Our courses are also relevant to any health professional, supervisor, technician or homeowner involved with or interested in water and wastewater.
Our ‘Core’ courses are designed to prepare the participant to write a related Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) exam. ‘Elective’ courses are designed to develop technical and workplace essential skills related to the water and wastewater sector and offer continuing education units (CEUs). ‘Specialized’ courses can be developed to meet the needs of a specific group.

Yùhke Zho | Yukon School of Visual Arts
Yukon University is a proud partner in the Yukon School of Visual Arts (SOVA), situated adjacent to the Dawson Campus in the Yùhke Zho building. The Foundation Year program at SOVA is a university level program, equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). SOVA is a collaboration between Yukon University, the Klondike Institute of Arts & Culture (KIAC) and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.

Yukon University is a proud partner of Yukon Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (YSPOR), with a satellite office situated in the community of Dawson, located upstairs in the Edhà̈ dà̈dhè̈chą Moosehide (slide) Classroom at Tr’odëk Hätr’unohtän Zho Dawson Campus. YSPOR supports health research through training, capacity development, knowledge sharing and translation, so that patients, families and communities are empowered to shape health care and research. YSPOR is based at Yukon University's Ayamdigut Campus and is funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research.
