Open Access Journals

Arxiv

The arXiv (pronounced "archive") is a repository of electronic preprints, known as e-prints, of scientific papers in the fields of mathematics, physics, astronomy, computer science, quantitative biology, statistics, and quantitative finance, which can be accessed online.

Biomed Central

BioMed Central is an STM (Science, Technology and Medicine) publisher which has pioneered the open access publishing model. All original research articles published by BioMed Central are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. A number of journals may require an institutional or a personal subscription to view other content, such as reviews or paper reports.

Directory of Open Access Journals

Free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals, covering all subjects and many languages. It is possible to search a specific article or browse subjects (practically all areas of knowledge) and journals.

F1000 Research

F1000Research is an Open Research publishing platform offering immediate publication of articles, posters and slides with no editorial bias. All articles benefit from transparent peer-review and the inclusion of all source data. Though there is no Editor (or Editor-in-Chief) to make a decision on whether to accept or reject the article, or to oversee the peer-review process, F1000Research has an Advisory Board comprising a large group of leading experts across biology and medicine; they provide strategic input, advise occasionally on issues arising with specific articles, and many members of the board also act as invited referees.

Nature Scientific Reports

Online and open access, Scientific Reports is a primary research publication from the publishers of Nature, covering all areas of the natural sciences. It is open to all, publishing technically sound, original research papers of interest to specialists within their field, without barriers to access.

OpenAIRE - Open Access Infrastructure to Research in Europe

OpenAIRE is formed by 50 partners, from all EU countries, collaborating to work on this large-scale initiative that aims to promote open scholarship and substantially improve the discoverability and reusability of research publications and data. It gathers research publications in several formats, including scholarly articles, dissertations and thesis, preprints, and research data.

Open Library of Humanities

The Open Library of Humanities (OLH) is a charitable organisation dedicated to publishing open access academic journals from across the humanities disciplines, as well as hosting its own multidisciplinary journal. Launched as an international network of scholars, librarians, programmers and publishers in January 2013, OLH publishes articles ranging from classics, modern languages and cultures, philosophy, theology and history, to political theory, sociology, anthropology, film and new media studies, and digital humanities.

PubMed Central

PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature. Particularly interesting for researchers looking for materials about Medicine and related areas.

SocArxiv

Officially launched December 2016, SocArxiv follows the same principles of the Arxiv: it collects eprints, but it focuses social sciences, behavioral sciences, arts & humanities, education, and law.

Zenodo

Zenodo is a repository for research data and other datasets. It collects a wide range of digital artifacts in several formats, sizes, access restrictions or licence. Data, software and other artefacts in support of publications may be the core, but equally welcome by the project are the materials associated with conferences, projects or the institutions themselves, all of which are necessary to understand the scholarly process. Zenodo is closely tied to the OpenAIRE initiative.
