Sessional Instructors - Practical Nursing Program
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN TEACHING PART-TIME?
Are you an experienced RN or LPN who is interested in teaching but can only commit to part-time hours? Are you looking for a change and want to join a team of supportive nurses who are passionate about teaching and nursing? If so, Yukon University’s Practical Nurse (PN) Program has two (2) opportunities for qualified nurses starting end of August 2024.
Opportunity #1: Lab Assistant, Nursing Foundations (NURS 1202)
Wednesdays from 1-4pm, September 4th until December 18th, 2024
The PN program is looking for an RN or LPN to be the lab assistant for NURS 1202 Nursing Foundations 1. This course introduces students to foundational nursing skills and is delivered in classroom and lab settings. The lab assistant works alongside the lead instructor to help students learn and develop foundational skills. Whether you’re a seasoned educator or looking to get some experience teaching in an academic setting, the lab assistant offers an excellent opportunity to work in nursing education while having the support of an experienced lead instructor.
Opportunity #2: Clinical Instructor, Clinical 2 Medical/Surgical (NURS 2402)
1 to 3 days/week, 10-hour day shift during the week (no nights/weekends) from August 26th until October 25th, 2024
The PN program is also seeking experienced RNs or LPNs to provide clinical instruction and supervision to students in acute care. This opportunity offers an introduction to experiential learning, simulation, skill development, mentorship, and course delivery. Clinical runs weekdays during the day. This is an excellent opportunity to try something different and learn new skills while being offered some flexibility with scheduling.
The ideal candidates for these opportunities will have a baccalaureate or a Master’s degree in nursing; registration or are eligible for registration with Yukon Registered Nurses Association; OR are licensed as a Practical Nurse in Yukon or are eligible to be licensed as a Practical Nurse in Yukon. Previous instructional experience is an asset but not essential. Experience working in diverse settings, including community care, long-term care, and acute care is preferred. A valid Yukon Driver’s license is a requirement.
