First Line Supervisor - Now fully online

Welcome to the new self-paced online courses for the First Line Supervisor certification. Choose between Underground, Exploration, or Surface Mining.

The First Line Supervisor courses are offered in partnership with Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board – Yukon and Yukon University – Continuing Education.

The courses are aligned to the requirements of Workplace Health and Safety Regulations for Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board – Yukon and contains the information needed to become a certified First Line Supervisor in Yukon’s mining and resource-related industries.

Program

Supervisors at mining projects (including exploration), are required to have a current First Line Supervisor’s certificate in the Yukon, according to Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board – Yukon. These self-paced online courses include an exam. You must pass with 80% or more to receive your certification. The certification is valid for 5 years.

You choose the First Line Supervisor course that best fits the kind of mining industry you are currently working in. Underground, Exploration and Surface Mining courses provide the content specific to the type of mining being worked in. The courses are in alignment with the Worker’s Safety and Compensation Board – Yukon Occupational Safety and Health guidelines.

Please note: When registering for the course please ensure that your first and last name are the spelling you want on your certificate. Ensure spelling and capitalization (John vs john) is correct.

Who should attend?

The courses are specifically developed and designed for front line supervisors in mining and related industries in the Yukon Territory.

The courses may also be beneficial to others in the mining or exploration industry including:

  • Managers and supervisors
  • Employees who perform a type of supervisory function or those who are a team leader
  • Health and safety committee members.
